Fall is here, the temperature is going downhill, but the 8th Brazil Film Fest is here again to give you a chance to warm yourself up with 11 great Brazilian movies brought to Toronto just for you!
So save the dates! From November 27th to 30th, and for the second year in a roll, the Brazil Film Fest will be happening at the prestigious TIFF Bell Lightbox theatre.
Getulio will be our opening title. The movie pictures one the most important moments of Brazil history, revealing the actual facts behind the dramatic suicide of Getúlio Vargas, Brazil’s president in 1954.
But we have in stock much more than History… The 8Th Brazil Film Fest is packed with flicks from all sort of genres – docs, features, comedies. We are sure there is something just right for you!
The Dognapper, My Mom is a Character and S.O.S. Women Overboard are three comedies and big hits at the box office in Brazil. They are also a great way to introduce yourself , or to better understand, a Brazilian trade mark – their great sense of humour.
Time and the Wind is based on Érico Verissimo’s novel – a classic of Brazilian literature. It’s also a big production with Fernanda Montenegro on its cast.
The psychological thriller Never Too Old to Meow is Rafael Primot’s first long feature as director, and has Regina Duarte in an amazing performance. (Those who knows her as the sweet girl of old soap operas will be absolutely surprised!)
